Character Design Class #9

During the last character design class we were formed into groups of 5 where we were given different TV series. Based on the TV series, we were supposed to come up and develop a character which would fit into the world in which the series plays in. Our group got "Danger Mouse" an 2015 cartoon series. We came up with the characters and each one of us picked the character that we would like to do. I took the "Von Spy-Der". As the name already says he is a spy and also a spider. In addition to that one of us had to come up with a merchandise which would fit the series and the other group members were responsible for the environment. I got the task for the merchandise and came up with the spider gadget. After finishing my sketches I refined the lines of those in Illustrator as well.

Character Traits:
  • Serious
  • Works Alone
  • Has a Robot
  • Mechanic/Spy

  • Dark Past
  • Deep voice
  • Sometimes helps Danger Mouse
  • Small

Collaboration Project | Reflective Statement

The group project was a new experience for me in general. It showed me many things ranging from how to lead and motivate my colleagues to how to deal with creative differences within the group and how to deal with our different unique work patterns and personalities.

We faced many difficulties and frustrations within the group, but somehow we manage to overcome them. I personally enjoyed modeling and drawing a lot and was happy with my end results. Sadly we, as a group did not fulfill the actual task: the animation, to the fullest due to some complications and technical difficulties. To be honest, I am personally not satisfied with the project because, we did not manage to finish it entirely on time. However, I improved my skills in animating and maya texturing, and by working with the graphic editor I started to understand it more thus improved my skills here as well.  I hope in improving them even further in the future.

All in all, I was not really satisfied with the project due to my failure as a leader thus we did not manage to finish animating in time. However, it was a brand new experience and I am glad that I got the chance to broaden my horizon.
